Emergency Action Plan

We aim to deliver our football coaching sessions to minimise the risk of injury. However, due to the nature of football being a contact sport, participants may experience a football related injuries whilst participating in the activity.
​
All sessions will have the following first aid resources available:
​
· All Football Development staff are safeguard trained and are either first aid trained or are scheduled for first aid training. All sessions will have a first aid trained member of the coaching staff onsite.
​
· A fully equipped and in date first aid kit to supply basic first aid.
​
· Emergency contact details of all participants.
(maybe shared with medical experts (e.g., paramedics, doctor’s, etc) if strictly necessary in the interest of the patient’s medical care)
​
· AED / Defibrillator (venue specific) may be available and may be deployed by a trained member of staff in the event of cardiac arrest.
​
If an injury occurs, the following procedures will be implemented:
Minor and non-emergency injuries:
(e.g., graze, fall)
· The Football coaching team will provide basic first aid treatment appropriate to their level of training (e.g., ice pack)
​
· If necessary, a parent will be notified prior to the participant’s collection at the end of the session.
​
· All injuries will be recorded in the Football Development Department’s Accident Report database.
​
· Minor injuries will be monitored throughout the session and if necessary, the individual will be withdrawn from the activity and a parent/carer will be notified.
​
​
Serious or life-threatening injury:
​
(e.g., bone fracture, major head trauma, cardiac arrest)
​
· If a player has a serious or life-threatening injury, we will call 999 for emergency medical assistance immediately.
​
· Parents / carers will be notified immediately by a member of the Football coaching staff.
​
· Pre-existing medical information provided by you to the coach will be shared with medical experts in the interest of the patient’s immediate medical care.
​
· Medical experts (e.g., paramedics) may recommend that a participant should be transferred to the nearest emergency medical facility. A member of the Football Development staff may accompany the participant if a parent / carer is uncontactable.
​
· If a parent / carer cannot be contacted, our Football Development Team will make emergency care decisions on your behalf and in the interest of the patient’s immediate care as advised by medical experts (Doctors, Specialists, Nurses, Paramedics) until a parent /carer is present or contactable.
By registering with Culmore Youth Football Club you agree to the following statement:

Save in respect of any liabilities which cannot legally be limited or excluded, I release Culmore Youth Football Club (the “Club”) (as well as its volunteers, committee members, contractors, directors and employees) from all liability, costs and damages which might arise from my child’s participation in the Club’s football development activities and/or sessions (including, without limitation, as a result of action taken by the Club in accordance with the Emergency Action Plan (linked below)) and I waive my right or my child’s (or their successors’) right to bring a legal action or claim against the Club, its volunteers, committee members, contractors, directors and/or employees in respect of the same.
